As Mattie Marshall enters the fifth grade she knows she shouldn’t tell anyone outside her family about the spirits she sees. Her friends are aware of her eccentricities, but her general happy outlook seems to rub off on everyone around her.
When one spirit reaches out to her, what she believes is a cry for help from the past may actually be a warning about the future. While trying to ward off the spirit that seems to be following her, a series of terrible events occur in her town. Some locals begin to look at her grandmother, the town psychic, and her family as complicit in the unfolding events. Mattie’s family struggles with the numerous accusations directed towards them. The community looks for answers why there seems to be so many natural and human created tragedies.
Mattie comes from a long line of the gifted and struggles between learning what her grandmother wants to teach her and the wishes of her parents to remain silent about her abilities. She has inherited her gifts from both sides of her family; Gypsies on her father’s side and Celtics on her mother’s. Her parents just want her to be an ordinary girl, but that is hard for a young girl with extraordinary talents. And sometimes these talents surface when they aren’t wanted.

Just finished reading "New Witch," by A.J. Dixon. While the author still needs to work on his writing style, the story itself was quite interesting.Mattie is a little girl with psychic gifts, the most talented in a family who all have psychic gifts, and the novel details how she learns to use some of her newly-discovered powers.
Because of the ending, it seems that this is the first in a series telling Mattie's story as she grows up and learns to control al of her powers. I look forward to reading more about Mattie.

The story is enjoyable, but I hesitate to recommended it because of the errors. There are errors in spelling and in sentence structure. However what is far worse in my opinion is that the author refers to runes as Celtic. Runes are Norse. Also, they are Celts or Kelts, not Celtics. The Celtics are a sports team.
Very good read. Will keep your interest. Would recommend it. Sounds like there will be another. If so can't Waite
I like the story, but feel it ended in the middle. It felt unfinished. I felt many questions were not answered
